The Holy Ghost verses the Holy Spirit 1 Year, 5 Months ago Karma: 1
I had a question on what is the difference (or lack thereof) between the Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit? In the King James Bible, both are used in reference to the third trinity of God Almighty, and whereas the Holy Spirit is used in both testaments, the Holy Ghost is only used in the New Testament. Is this important in understanding the difference if there is one? Is there only a small minor difference between the two? In the Old Testament the Holy spirit could come upon a man such as king Saul and then depart from him. Psalm 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. In the New Testament though, the early church received the Holy Ghost through laying on of hands and Jesus even breathed it into the disciples. John Chapter 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Both then meet together in the New Testament to play a key role in our eternal salvation. In the New Testament the Holy Spirit seals us unto redemption Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise. But also you are saved by the Holy Ghost and regenerated, Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost. Is this Holy Ghost that is able to regenerate you the same as the Holy Spirit that seals you? are they one and the same? Jesus commands to be born again of the Spirit. I believe they are the same but I may be missing something. If you could help me and even do a message on this I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

The Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit are one and the same Lord. The term Holy Ghost is the term revealing the personage of God's sprit and the Holy Spirit is a term reveling what he is, a spirit. When the scriptures reveal the personage of the spirit the term He is used. The word it, is correctly used in the King James Bible when referring to the work of the Spirit.

Ro 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Hear we have what the one true God is in his three personages. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost.

Mt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

These three are one: 1Jo 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

The Son is the word in heaven showing the distinction of the personages of God, so there should be no confusion in understanding the God head refuting the Jesus only group.

Joh 1:1 ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God.3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Aryanism falsely assumes that since the members of the Godhead are not the same therefore, there is more than one God. One that is inferior to the other. The other teaches since they are one God all three personages are Jesus. These are the Jesus only group because they reason that since the father was manifested in the flesh, you cannot make distinction. Both positions are human reasoning are heretical and destroy the scriptural revelations of the living God!

1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

To help in human reasoning I myself can be revealed as three persons. My Mother see's me as a Son. See sees me differently from anyone else and I respond to her differently than anyone else. My children see me as a father they see me differently from anyone else and I respond to them differently than anyone else. The members of my church see me as the pastor. They see me differently from anyone else and I respond to them differently than anyone else
