The title of your entry "a soft place to fall" is very interesting. There is nothing soft or pleasant about man's fallen state nor being cast into the lake of fire for eternal damnation and torment. Our priority is not to soften man's fall, but to lift up the LORD JESUS CHRIST. "
AND I, IF I BE LIFTED UP FROM THE EARTH, WILL DRAW ALL MEN UNTO ME."
JOHN 12:32. "
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up."
John 3:14.
Although flowers and bushes can be pleasant to look at, the Bible is very clear that the emphasis should
not be on the outward appearance. If you read God's direction for the building of the Tabernacle in Exodus you will find that the outside was covered with badgers skins, a very dull, plain appearance. The exquisit beauty and the presence of GOD was on the inside. Even the Lord Jesus Christ, himself was not beautiful on the outside. "
he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him."
Isaiah 53:2 "...
for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."
1Samuel 16:7
The LORD himself expressed disdain for religious leaders emphasising the outward appearance. "
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness."
Our sign contains scripture, so it is no surprise that a lost person will not fully understand its meaning. "
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
1 Corinthians 2:14.
We leave it up to the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of men. If any passers-by are curious about the sign and want a closer look, we are happy to have them pull in and read. If any want to learn more, we are happy to have them visit and learn.
By God's Grace, we will never
replace the sign containing the Word of God, for daphodils and daisies. "
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand forever." Isaiah 40:8
The important question is: Has there ever been a time in your life when you repented of your sin before a Holy God, and turned in faith to the Lord Jesus Christ, asking him for mercy and to save your soul?
